科大棋舍全稱為香港科技大學學生會棋舍(Games Society HKUSTSU)。
棋舍於一九九二年成立，至今已度過二十年。

儘管棋舍到今已歷多年，其文化以及宗旨至今不變：本會希望從各項推廣活動中， 為會員在繁瑣的學習生活中，得到適當的舒緩。 同時透過遊戲，讓同學明白群體生活的重要，學習溝通技巧，增進分析和邏輯思考， 提高個人品德修養，更重要的是增加彼此間的友誼。 這對於同學的均衡發展，有莫大的裨益。

棋舍於大學內致力宣傳、 推廣各類桌上遊戲、紙牌遊戲以及棋類 。 除了香港學生經常接觸的中國象棋、圍棋、陸軍棋五子棋等等， 我們同樣推薦其他別出心裁、新奇有趣的桌上遊戲。 相比起一般的棋類，桌上遊戲所考驗的能力可說是出乎意料地多以及深。 接觸桌上遊戲的過程中，學生會在無形中提升分析能力、 邏輯思考能力、 觀察力、判斷力等等， 各種能力的提升對於學生在學習上、將來工作上都會有很大的幫助。

同時，我們也推薦不少紙牌遊戲， 撲克也是其中一種(當然我們絕對不支持賭博行為)。 雖說紙牌的配件數量不如桌上遊戲的多， 但卻不見得戰略性、精通的難度會輸給一般的桌上遊戲。 更甚地說，紙牌遊戲通常會要求玩家之前不停地交流、商量、交涉等等， 玩家人數也會普遍較一般桌戲多。 玩紙牌遊戲，重視人與人之間的交流。透過這類遊戲，可以訓練學生的吐談技能、 人際處事能力等等在課堂上甚少接觸的能力。

Established in 1992, Games Society HKUSTSU has a history of over two decades. Throughout the years, the aims of Games Society remains: helping UST students under enormous workload to wind down and at the meantime nurturing multifarious skills of players. Communication skills and logical thinking skills are good examples.

Table-top boardgames, chess and card games are our major foci. We recommend classic chess as well as new and creative boardgames. The skills that can be leant through playing these games can help players academically, and in the future work environment.

Futhermore, we recommend various card games including poker (we don't encourage gambling of course!). Communication is paramount while playing games in this category. The interpersonal skills needed and can be learnt is what often being dropped in lectures.
